Spring Is Here (and so am I)

Hi everyone! Did you miss me?

Is it too late to say “Happy New Year”?

This year has already flown by, and somehow it’s March 2021, and I haven’t posted a single thing this year. I know I haven’t been around for a while, so thank you for sticking with me. I’ve had a few changes recently, specifically with work, but I’m finally settling down in my new job and hoping to be able to start writing again.

I started the year with a resolution for the first time, and immediately fell down. I don’t like resolutions, at least for myself, because I know that waiting until the new year is just putting off making a change. If I need to do something, or stop doing something, it has to start as soon as I realise it’s a problem. If I put it off until the start of the week, the next day, the new year etc. then I’ll keep putting it off.

My resolution was to write every day. That didn’t happen. With schools closing again, it hasn’t been easy to fit my writing into the schedule. I also started a new job partway through January, a fantastic job that I’m very excited about, and it’s taken a long time to get my head settled again. Honestly, I’m not entirely sure that I am fully settled. But I miss writing, I miss my blog, and I miss all of you.

Spring is here, after a long winter. To me, Spring means hayfever, fresh air, and new beginnings. The birds greet the day earlier and earlier, singing in the sunrise. Time is passing, and the breeze brings the scent of hope. Even rainy days feel bright and fresh, and the pale yellow sunshine belies the bite in the air.

So here I am starting again, and hoping that I don’t falter.
